Ride With Pride

Club Origination

"The Blue Knights is an International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club with chapters in countries all over the world. It was formulated in 1974 and its emphasis is to promote good fellowship among its members and in the community. Our members are law enforcement officers including Police Officers, Corrections Officers, Probation Officers in Federal, State, County and Local public safety agencies."

History of Oregon I

The Oregon I chapter is the originating chapter within the State of Oregon, established in 1982 and currently has 21 members. We generally meet once a month, we have fund raisers, we participate in various rides throughout the Metropolitan area and attend West Coast as well as International meetings. We have assisted other Blue Knights chapters in getting chapters started and helped other law abiding motorcycle groups in their events. Oregon I was the originating chapter to raise funds for the Oregon Police Memorial and sponsor of the Oregon Blue Knights Memorial Ride which is held in May of every year. Recently we have consolidated with the other Oregon chapters on the Memorial Ride and now have an all Oregon event with riders from all seven chapters and all corners of the State.

Philanthropy

Many Blue Knights work long and hard to raise money for various charities, especially near to our hearts is helping children. Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toys For Tots, D.A.R.E. and C.O.P.S. (Concerns Of Police Survivors) are examples of some of our favorite charities.

In Oregon we have helped establish a perpetual funding source for the Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial located at the Oregon Police Academy in Salem. We have donated literally thousands of dollars to our two favorite charities, namely C.O.P.S. and Make A Wish Foundation.

As of June 30, 2007 the Blue Knights chapters and the International organization have donated to numerous charities; contributing time in the amount of nearly 160,000 man hours, goods with an estimated value of $536,000.00 and $5,025,000.00 in cash for a total estimated value of $8,760,000.00 (USD).

Philosophies

"We're the good guys" is one of the main philosophies of the Blue Knights an we try to promote that philosophy through our work in the community and for various charity groups.

Blue Knights is a family fraternity. Spouses and children often accompany our members to various rides and functions. The help us in the tasks at our fundraisers and spreading the words about he Blue Knights.

A heartfelt philosophy of the Blue Knights is "There are no strangers, only friends you haven't met."A philosophy and saying that all Blue Knights are familiar with is "Ride With Pride" which was coined by one of our founding members. We are proud of our organization, proud of our brotherhood and sisterhood and proud of our affiliation as law enforcement officers.
